Our 109 year history of Gerstner's legendary craftsmanship proudly continues in this chest with tongue and groove construction which provides strength, durability and visual appeal. All drawers feature Gerstner's exclusive and adjustable Stop-Trac™ System that prevents drawer spillage. This chest requires over 300 pieces and over 100 different operations to construct and finish. Each part is meticulously hand fitted for the most exacting fit possible. Hardwoods naturally retain some moisture and can expand and contract slightly with seasonal temperatures — the Gerstner craftsmen have taken this into consideration and all parts are fitted accordingly to allow for this natural occurrence while taking into account regional & seasonal differences that may affect this process as well. The top compartment and all thirteen drawers are felt lined to provide extra protection for your possessions. The front panel is fitted with a sliding hinge so that it may be stowed beneath the bottom drawer on the open position. One drawer features a separate lock to stow valuables when the chest is in the open position. In the closed position, the front panel covers the drawers and can be locked to provide total security. This chest is our largest table top chest. Expanded front to back drawer depth and increased drawer height gives you more storage space than our smaller chests and protection for a larger selection of collectibles, keepsakes and tools. When paired with the GOB2705 Ultimate Base, you can increase your overall storage capacity without taking up much more surface workspace (base sold separately). Chest comes with 4 keys (2 for each lock). Golden Oak products have a medium to dark golden stain color. This color is similar to the natural aging process that occurs in chests that we see over 40 years old. This golden color gives them an antique look that brings out the richness of the grain patterns. We only use quarter sawn white oak, which is renowned for its stability and unique "tiger striping" grain. Not every piece of oak is highly figured with this "striping", however we can custom match a chest for you, please contact us for a price quote. The oak used in our chests are from 80 — 100 year old trees, the quality of lumber that we require for each and every Gerstner Chest literally requires generations in the making. Your new oak chest will darken over time. Every Gerstner USA built chest has a hand rubbed lacquer finish. All chests go through 3 final finishing stages. At each stage the lacquer finish is hand rubbed to give a lasting beauty and protection to the selected hardwoods. Oak chests have a hand applied stain to insure an even finish. This chest can easily be used as a decor focal point in any room of your house to keep all your treasures neatly organized in one central location.
