It makes an economical alternative to the standard #04-000 Pro Touch Off Gage, also from Edge Technology. To use this gauge just lower the tool down onto the contact face until the indicator reads zero. At that point, you can be confident that the tooltip is exactly 4 inches from the surface the Pro Touch Off Gage is sitting on. The gauge arrives pre-calibrated, however, it can be easily adjusted using 1-2-3 blocks. The gage body is made from red anodized 6061-T6 aluminum for maximum durability.
