Specially Designed Extractors To Pull Out Broken Taps & Save the Threads. It is uncommon to bust your taps in the middle of the tapping process. However, in such an event, Walton Tap Extractors are specially engineered to remove most tap sizes with varying flute patterns. Walton has been around for almost over a century in tool making industry. Its revolutionary Tap Extractors have caught the imagination of machinists stuck in an uncanny situation when their taps snap in the blind holes. Tap extractors deploy a very basic and easy-to-understand approach in extracting broken taps. Walton tap extractors remove broken taps without the need for drilling, lasers and avoid damaged threads, scrapped parts. The hardened steel fingers of Walton tap extractors are flexible enough to slide down the flutes of a broken tap. Secured by a collar down onto the top of the tapped hole, the tool brings out the tap quickly & safely. The square shank allows any standard tap wrench to hold the tool firmly. The Walton company recommends following three simple steps in the event of tap extraction: 1. Clean away all chips on the workpiece and broken tap. Slid down the extractor fingers gently but firmly into the flute of the broken tap. 2. Slide the sleeve down until it touches the work. 3. Using a tap wrench to the square shank, twist forward and backward a few times to loosen, pull it up.
